4/365 charlie "houdini"

so im a day behind in posting this because the pup wore me out yesterday.
i took him to work in the morning and he was GREAt. then i brought him home so i could go out to lunch. i checked on him after lunch - and there was a little mess (expected) but it was ok. so i put him back in after taking him out again... and hoped for the best. you see, i am very anti crate training. it just really bothers me. so i was really attempting to give the little wigglepup the benefit of the doubt...

so i came home after work with a new big box to keep him in while he is young. so i walked in the house... went to the bathroom door...it was closed... i opened it... and there was a bit of a mess (expected)... but NO DOG.

i turn around and he is hopping towards me from the living room. i quickly took him out. then examined the house. he didnt leave a mess anywhere in the house. and hadnt eaten anything important... whew. the next question was HOW THE HELL did he escape? the crack under the door is only about 2 inches high.

so it took me a while and i finally figured out. he opened the cabinet under the sink. and ... much to my surprise (i NEVER open the cabinet under the sink) a huge hole was left by my lovely roommate during one of our plumbing fiascos. See we have an old house and no plumbing access panels... so sheetrock has to be broken in order to get to the pipes. so the little pup crawled THROUGH THE WALL... and out the mechanical closet in the kitchen (that houses our ac/heater unit). he was totally unharmed. but wow. so - - last night i went and bought a crate...

he slept most of the night - and properly whined or sniffed to let me know that he needed to go out. his longest sleep stretch was about 4.5 hours i think. not too bad. yay.

oh and he offically has a name. his name is CHARLIE. yay!

Awww, that's a heck of a story. "Our children" (i didn't want to call them animals) amaze me with what they can do! Yesterday we parked in the garage as usual and there's a window in there, Jack called me over to look at someones kitty on the roof of the house next door cuddled up to the attic vent. It was so cute.
